Emily became president of Leeds City College Students’ Union (LCCSU) in March 2015, where she successfully ran an organisational reform of the Students’ Union focusing on student engagement and citizenship life.
This has seen LCCSU win the NUS FE Students’ Union of the Year in both 2017 and 2018, and has played a crucial role in the attainment of the college’s Ofsted grade of Good with Outstanding in Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare.
In 2017, Emily was elected as the Vice President (Further Education) for the National Union of Students. She has launched the Learner Voice Framework to support student voice in all educational providers.
In her advocacy work she has run, in partnership with the Association of Colleges (AoC) and other education unions, the #Loveourcolleges campaign for fairer funding in further education and bringing the student perspective in to the forefront.
Alongside that is the ‘myFEjourney’ campaign fighting for reduced travel costs for FE Students.
